About the Principal

Dr.S.Selvakumar, M.Sc(MB).,M.Sc(EVS).,M.Phil.,Ph.D is the recipient of highly commended Ph.D Scholar that was given in recognition of his outstanding research work in the discipline of Microbiology, Periyar University, Salem. He obtained his Masters of Philosophy in Life Science from Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli. He obtained his both Master’s degree in Microbiology and Environmental Science from Periyar University, Salem. He graduated in Microbiology from University of Madras.

As an active academician, he has earned more than 17 years of expertise in teaching and he led 10 years as Head in the Department of Microbiology & Biotechnology. During his tenure he produced gold medalists, many rank holders and centum results through his virtuous training & high caliber motivation.

Dr.S.Selvakumar has occupied several academic and administrative positions, such as elected member of senate at Periyar University, Salem from 2012 to 2015, functioned as Chief Superintendent and Chief Examiner for Periyar University examinations, a Doctoral committee member for Ph.D research scholars and currently he is guiding three research scholars for their Doctorateship, as a recognized guide of Periyar University, Salem.

He received the fellow member award from “Indian Association of Applied Microbiologists”. His key achievement in his career, deposited bacterial 16s rRNA gene sequences to the National Center for Biotechnology Information, National Library of Medicine, USA. He has the credit of participating and presenting papers in many highly reputed journals, seminars and conferences. By his enthusiastic interest on research, he created linkages with several eminent research scientists of various countries.

He has completed several funded projects sponsored by Tamilnadu State Council for Science and Technology, Chennai. He addressed as the Guest of Honour in many invited conferences, seminars, lectures and workshops. Other activities in his path of life are organizing many social awareness programmes among young people, rural farmers, self-help group members & science school teachers. Also he acted as coordinator for ISO & TNPSC awareness programs. He has served as editorial board member in an International journal. He has expressed his precious scientific cogitation in reputed magazines and newspapers.

He is triggered in his duty as young motivated optimistic speaker, dynamic administrator, and quite sociable in this environment. He is empowered with the necessary team work effort, leadership quality and dedication towards the completion of work in time.
