Department of Mechanical Engineering
The significant constituencies of the Mechanical Engineering Department are the faculty, the students, the alumni, the employers and the graduate schools. Special representatives of these constituencies include the Industrial Advisory Board of the Program and student leadership of the AIAA and ASME undergraduate programs. The programs educational objectives are established and reviewed on an ongoing basis based on the feedback from the various constituencies as well as archival information about the program graduates. The faculty engages in continuing discussions of the academic programs in the regularly-scheduled monthly faculty meetings throughout the academic year.

In order to achieve these objectives, we have adopted the following student outcomes, as stated by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET Inc.

Technical Symposium NOVUS 2K14 on 20th September 2014
Thiru. A. Anbalagan, Chairman, and Thiru. R. Ramanathan, Correspondent honored the Chief Guest. Prof. C. Ramamoorthy, HoD (Mechanical) explained about the importance of the workshop. Prof. S.K. Elangovan, Secretary, delivered the Presidential Address, and he urged the students to come forward, observe and utilize the benefits of the Workshop. Prof. S. Obli, Dean, explained about the importance of Green Engineering.
Dr. T.K.Kannan, Principal, also enhanced the key points about Green revolution and the role of students to emphasize the same. He congratulated the HoD and Staff members of Mechanical Department for organizing this workshop. Prof. Y.V.Sairam, Assistant Professor (Mech) introduced the Chief Guest to the participants. The Chief Guest Address was given by Shri. B.E. Rajendran, Associate Vice President, JSW Steels Ltd., Pottaneri, Salem who has insisted on conserving forests.
Further, he emphasized the need for keeping the environment and Mother Nature for our future generations. He added that planned usage of vehicles would save the fuel thereby avoiding pollution. The valedictory function was presided over by Dr. T.K. Kannan, Principal and the students had expressed their views and opinions about the workshop. They were given more time to understand the concept explained during the workshop and was conducted in an effective manner.

Elangovan, Secretary, delivered the Presidential Address, and he urged the students to come forward and utilize the benefits of the Technical Symposium and the smooth conductance of the events as planned.

The Chief Guest addressed the participants and emphasized the importance of Symposiums and its role in the development of Engineers’ technical skills honed during the college life itself. Prof. V.Saravanan, Assistant Professor (Mech) proposed the vote of thanks and appreciated the students from all other colleges for their participation. In this event around 200 students have participated and benefited.

Mr. D.Venkateswaran, Partner & Head, Venbro Polymers. Past Chairman, CII, Erode Zone was the Chief Guest for this Inaugural function. He delivered the inaugural address to the students. He elaborated the present trend about what today Industries expected from Students. He emphasized that “KNOWING” alone is not sufficient, Industries need “DOING”. Industrial Visit should not be like Picnics, even if Small Industries are visited, students should come out with some additional or extra knowledge.
Finally, he concluded the quoting, “That Industries need real Engineers and not just engineering studied Engineers”. He also explicated that these professionals can find employment both in the government and private sector undertakings.
